The annual Buddha Mahotsava, a three day celebration filled with cultural and religious activities. More than two lakh (0.2 million) devotees from across the globe attended the 32nd Kalachakra puja, a Tibetan tantric ritual which hopes to bring world peace through a rigorous series of tantric initiations, led by exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama at the Buddhist holy site of Bodh Gaya.

 

The elaborately carved Mahabodhi Temple, Buddhism's holiest shrine, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.

 

Bodh Gaya - it's here that Lord Buddha became enlightened during intense meditation under a Bodhi tree, is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage place in the world.
