Before the Blackbirds Come

I love the way crab trees look in the winter, when they are loaded with crab apples, which end up covered in snow. They are the only thing in our yard giving off vibrant color during the long winter months. Then, in the spring, the blackbirds descend upon them and the apples seem to magically disappear, until the blossoms appear and start the cycle all over again .....
