today's task

was to put the repaired storm windows into the window to the right of Jerry. An easy task you say but NO. it took us three hours. First Jerry crawled out the window, stood on the window ledge and holding on to the wood wooden shutter hinges he washed the smears he had missed at the last cleaning (because I had him using the wrong cleaning solution). Then he crawls back in, getting in and out isn't easy. We find the correct window, get in in the right tracks and raise it up. It will NOT raise up high enough for the latches to slide into the little nooks on the sides of the metal frame. We take the storm window out, Jerry crawls out again and uses screw drivers and plyers to widen the top slot of the frame. He crawls back in, we put the window back in. It raises higher but still the latches do not slide into the nooks. i take the window out again and get this nifty tool Jerry had ordered to sand hard to get to places that came with different heads and blades to do work in applications. The tool happened to have a metal cutter on it so Jerry didn't have to climb in and out of the window again. He enlarged the notched, I put the window in and it WORKED. Jerry climbed back in. We put the bottom window in and the screen when Jerry says "oh NO" He had hand finger prints all over the top of the inside window. We took out the storms and screen, Jerry crawled it AGAIN, cleaned the window AGAIN, climbed back and now three hours later our task was complete. And so it goes playing the "Victorian House Dress Up" game, the new exciting and challenging edition to the "This Old House" game
