Walk with Me a Moment in My Shoes: I have been tagged
1. A sick time: Dec 1957, My mother, my two sisters and I all had our tonsils taken out on the same day. The local newspaper put our pictures on page one.
2. A magical time: When I was 15 almost 16, a friend, Juan, took me on a date: He and chauffeur picked me up lowering the top to a hardtop convertible as I was seated. We danced and dined at his father's suite in the Presidential Palace in Lima, Peru. We watched a movie with the President's son in the palace theater. We explored underground tunnels and I had my picture taken in a garden with fig trees planted by Pizarro
3: A unthinking time: Again when I was 15 I was with five friends. Four of us jumped off the side of a yacht into the Pacific Ocean. The fifth rowed the dingy. We swam to shore and were greeted by military men with big guns. We were allowed to stay as long as we picked up our trash..but I always wonder if we were safe just jumping into that cold 60 degree water.
4. A lonely time: When we came back to the States I had no friends in high school. No friends for the 10th or 12th grades. I skipped the 11th. In grade school I always felt left out. I read in Myers-Briggs that most INFP children feel this way.
5. A friendly time: My second job I got when I was 16 at the local newspaper. When I was 16 and for many years I had lots of friends that were 20 years older than me and now I have lots of friends that are 20 years younger.
6. A shocking time: I was 28 and the day my divorce was final I was fired from the local news paper after working there for 12 years. I was fired for NOT WEARING A BRA. Remember those days. I learned that the only security in life is ones self.
7. A time for learning: My greatest teachers are my children. I have also learned from my parents, family friends and also at the top of the list are the authors Steven Wolinsky, Ph.D. Psychologist: Thomas Gordon, Parent Effectiveness Training, and David Gerrold science fiction writer. David Gerrold is a HERO.
8. A time for longing: I wish I could carry a tune and wear pretty shoes
9. A hectic time: Jerry and I lived together for 22 years. We got married on Valentines Day in 2002. We got married so we could be foster parents and we fostered children for five years. It was a very rewarding experience. I expected it to be difficult but it was many many times more difficult than I ever imagined. We should have gotten married sooner the money we saved in taxes by being married was great.
10. A time for love: I adore my husband, my children, my mother and sisters, grandchildren, family, the children I fostered that now have their own children, which I adore, family and my friends.
11. A time for play: My first sentence was, "I want that doll." and 60 years later I am still playing with toys and dolls, but you all already know this
12. A time to celebrate: And you already know I love the holidays and decorations...like Christmas...LOL
13. A time of discovery: After I had been a parent for three years I learned it was possible to raise children without punishment. My children were never punished, or grounded nor did we do time out.
14. A working time: I started by own upholstery business and ran it for 32 years. I was always very much in demand with a waiting list sometimes for eight months. I never advertised nor was the phone number listed in the yellow pages. I really hated this job.
15. A spiritual time: I am personally responsible for my actions and my choices. Religion is a guide not an excuse.Sometimes I am too didactic.Children are not responsible for the torture and abuse some of them suffer. I am an advocate for all children...passionately.
16. A future time..I am so excited to wake up every day. I love living on this planet and I love exploring it. I look forward to putting my health first, being creative, playing with my toys, treasure hunting and playing with my grandchildren.
Whew!!!!
