1957 Ideal Shirley Temple

I found ten vintage dolls last weekend for an average price of ten dollars each. All the dolls have "issues" . This is the "after" photo of ten inch, Shirley Temple. Silly me did not take a "before" photo.

Makeover:

I washed her. The inside of her mouth was very dirty. I would squeeze her cheeks to better get to the dirt. I think I dislodged her teeth but we will never know for sure because I did not take a before photo. I did wash away part of the paint on her mouth. After washing her right eyebrow was missing. There is a rub mark where her eyebrow should been. I washed her hair with Pantene Pro-V and soaked her hair for five hours in Clairol ConditionII for Dry/Damaged hair Dual Protein Enriched. Then I rolled her hair on straws held in place with T-pins. Next I dunked her hair in boiling water (after taking the water off of heat) for 15 seconds. I left the hair to dry over night then brushed, combed and styled. I will give myself an A for her hair.

I used a Prismacolor pencil for her eyebrow which didn't make a smooth or crisp line like paint might have. I made template out of Sculpey clay from the original eyebrow. I added some pencil coloring to the original eyebrow so they would match better. I get a C on the eyebrows.

I painted her lips. I can see from the close up that I need to paint them some more. A D for lips? or a C?

I tried to use black permanent marker on the eyelashes but it doesn't stay on so I will try some paint. Not sure what that black spot in her eye is, marker where I missed??? or paint loss.

I used soft pastels to add rouge to her right cheek.

Issues: Blackhead on her right chin area. Arms are different colors. Faded red stains on finger tips and on one foot between two toes. Stain on her back. I LOVE HER!!!!!
