YORKIE - IT'S NOT FOR GIRLS (Nestlé chocolate bar) - a promotional ceramic mug (c.2002)

This YORKIE - IT'S NOT FOR GIRLS mug was issued for Nestlé around 2002 and includes the tongue-in-cheek tagline "It's not for girls" used for Nestlé's multimedia advertising campaign from 2002. Their multimedia promotional campaign aimed to carry on the "manly" appeal of their Yorkie chocolate bar.

 

The campaign was controversal but Nestlé persevered with their 'not for girl's' campaign until it was ended in 2011. But its very controversy attracted much media attention and ensured the continued success of Yorkie bar sales throughout those nine years and more.
