THE SWAGMAN - a signed bronze sculpture by Eddie Hackman (limited edition 199/1000)
A nicely detailed bronze figurine by Australian sculptor Eddie Hackman (b.1933) and this one would have been titled THE SWAGMAN.
Eddie specialised in bronze sculptures of animals, Australian cowboys and other characters who once inhabited the Australian Outback in times past. The "swagman" was a freelance worker, especially for farms in the Outback and travelled in search of work. He carried his "swag" (tools) in his swagbag along with his other essential belongings, hence the name 'swagman'.
This bronze figurine shows great detail all over and the smoker's pipe adds a certain something to its overall charm.
If anyone knows what year this sculpture was made, I'd be grateful to hear from you.
