A promotional mug of the GOODYEAR tyre company. featuring the iconic Goodyear logo with the foot of Mercury (Hermes), the ancient god of commerce, trade and speed.
The Goodyear company was established in 1898 by Frank Sieberling (1859-1955) and the company name he choose was in honour of Frank Goodyear (1800-1860), the inventor of vulcanised rubber. The use of Mercury's winged foot for the company's logo was chosen by Sieberling and remains in use with Goodyear, with only minor modifications over the years.
