Persian (?) brass finger bowl (19th century?)

This attractive brass finger bowl was handmade with a repoussé design of animal and floral motifs all around. A lion and two elephants are depicted as part of this bowl's design.

Finger bowls were used as traditional 'tableware' since food was generally eaten using the fingers. Such bowls would have been filled with water and often with rose petals to scent the water.
