Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) logo badge (1990’s) - blue badges issued to station staff
Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) was established as a subsidiary of Córas Iompair Éireann (CIE) in 1987 with responsibility for the running of railway services within the Republic of Ireland. Iarnród Éireann operates the InterCity, commuter and freight rail services as well as jointly operating the Enterprise rail service between Dublin and Belfast in conjunction with Northern Ireland Railways. They also have responsibility for running the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART) lines.
This blue enamelled cap badge was issued for station staff (depotman) and shows the Iarnród Éireann logo that was introduced in 1994. This logo was superseded by the current logo in 2013. The logo is composed of the initials IE which are superimposed upon a left-facing arrowhead.
Can anyone please tell me, how was this badge used within Iarnród Éireann?
