(BH) Bowthorpe Holdings Ltd - ten year long service badge (c.1959)

Bowthorpe Holdings Ltd (BHL) was founded in 1936 by Jack Bowthorpe as the Goodlife Electrical Supplies and in 1938 renamed the Bowthorpe Electric Company Ltd. The business prospered by exploiting new niche markets in the electrical and electronics markets and over the years acquired other companies that fitted in with their business strategy. In 1948 BHL moved their main manufacturing facility to Crawley in West Sussex and also established their headquarters there. By 2000 the company had become sufficiently reorganised and was relaunched as Spirent plc later becoming Spirent Communications plc to emphasise where their core business lies..
