The aircraft in the photograph was ordered in 1952 as a KC-97 Stratotanker, a variant of the C-97 Stratofreighter. The aircraft was converted to a C-97 Stratofreighter. When this photograph was taken in 2011 the aircraft was on display at Chanute Air Museum, Rantoul, Illinois. When the museum closed, the aircraft was sold and was scrapped around 2017.
