AD-4 Skyraider, U.S. Navy (132261), Nevada, Fallon Naval Air Station

The Skyraider, an attack aircraft, was built by Douglas Aircraft Company to replace the carrier-based TBM Avenger and SB2C Helldiver torpedo and dive bombers. The Skyraider made its first flight in 1945. The aircraft served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. It was capable of carrying large loads of ordinance and its relatively slow speed allowed it to loiter over targets providing precise attacks on enemy ground forces. In Vietnam, the Skyraider proved to be one of the best close air support aircraft in service during the war

The aircraft in the photograph had the Navy unit identification of Attack Squadron 152 (VA-152)
