The M110A2 self-propelled heavy artillery 203 mm eight-inch howitzer was introduced to U. S. Army and U. S. Marine Corps units in 1963. With a standard crew of 12 to 13 soldiers it could fire at a rate of one round per two minutes. The 203mm gun had a range of 15.5 miles (25,000 meters). The M110A2 self-propelled howitzer was widely used in the Vietnam War and saw action in Operation Desert Storm. The M110 was retired from U.S. Army service, replaced by the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System.
