Missouri, Winona, U. S. Forest Service- Mark Twain National Forest, Winona Ranger Station, District Ranger's Dwelling; Eleven Point/Doniphan Ranger District- Winona Office

The structure was built in 1957 as office space for the Mark Twain National Forest Winona Ranger District. It was built using exterior wood shingles to complement the rustic character of surrounding structures that were built in 1938-1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that formed the Winona Ranger District administrative site. Because of the continued use of exterior wood shingles, the Winona Ranger District site retains its feeling and association as a 1930s Forest Service administrative site. The Winona Ranger District site forms the Winona Ranger Station Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. However, the building in the photograph is not a contributing structure to the Historic District.
