The one- and one-half story frame Colonial Revival style house was built in 1939 by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) enrollees. The house with a wood shingle exterior and a gable roof has two dormers and at one end is an exterior wall brick chimney. The main entrance has a simple molded wood cornice and is flanked by Doric motif pilasters. The house was the home of the Mark Twain National Forest Winona District Ranger. The design for house was based upon a standardized plan developed by the Forest Service and implemented by the CCC. The house is located in the Winona Ranger Station Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is a contributing structure to the Historic District.
