Minnesota, Itasca County, U. S. Forest Service, Chippewa National Forest, Marcell Ranger Station, Warehouse

The former Marcell Ranger District Station contains five Rustic Style buildings and structures. The station was constructed between 1934-35 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from the Mack and Day Lake Camps under the direction of the U. S. Forest Service. All structures were built using local stone and logs. The facility was built to serve as the administrative headquarters for the Marcell Ranger District.

The one and one-half story Warehouse is surfaced with pre-milled, half-log siding. The principal façade of the structure features five garage doors and an entrance door. A canopy projects from the roof and extends over the concrete apron to shelter the entrance doors. Another feature of the façade is the center cross gable with windows. A red brick chimney rises from the shop near one end of the building

The Rustic style was widely used by the CCC who worked with the National Park Service and the U. S. Forest Service to build log structures in National Forests and Parks. The Marcell Ranger Station closed in 2001. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Warehouse is a contributing building.
