Pine- White Pine, Minnesota, Itasca County, Chippewa National Forest, Lost Forty

The old growth white pine is surrounded by shorter-lived quaking aspen. The pines in the Lost Forty are 300-400 years old, whereas the aspen and some other hardwoods may grow as old 80-85 years.
