Pine- Red Pine, Minnesota, Itasca County, Chippewa National Forest, Lost Forty

The Lost Forty has stands that by definition are not old-growth. These relatively young, even-aged stands, were probably established as a result of a serve disturbance. This dynamic process allow old-growth forest to continue to exist.
