Florida, Marion County, U. S. Forest Service, Ocala National Forest, Central Tower

The Central Fire Tower on the Ocala National Forest was built by the U. S. Forest Service in 1949 to replace an earlier tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The tower stands 156 feet tall and has assisted forest firefighters through hundreds of forest fires. The tower is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.
