The barn, with a 70 feet diameter was built by C. V. Kindig & Son in 1910. The Wideman brothers had the barn built and it is sometimes referred to as the Wideman-Gerig barn. The Gerig's purchased the barn in 1951. The barn set idle for a number of years and In the late 1990s it was scheduled to be burned in a fire department training session. However, the barn was saved, moved, and restored-- thanks, in part, to grant from the Lilly Endowment. In 2006, the barn was a golf pro shop and community center in Rochester, Indiana.
