Missouri Pacific Railroad, Arkansas, Hot Springs

The Missouri Pacific Railroad station was built in 1917. The single story, brick combination depot- freight and passenger- was built on a triangular shaped lot in the Mediterranean style with strong elements of the Italianate style. The roughly V-shaped building has two principal elevations, and the corner where one elevation blends into the other. On each elevation there is a band of large, compound arched windows with keystones. The most outstanding feature of the building is the hipped roof Italianate tower. Other outstanding features include the red clay tile roof and the decorative brackets. Since it original construction the building has incorporated a rear addition and in 2018, when the photograph was taken, was used as a urban transportation hub. The former Missouri Pacific depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
