A-4M Skyhawk, U. S. Navy (159789), Texas, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth (former Carswell Air Force Base)

The A-4 Skyhawk was built by Douglas Aircraft for the U. S. Navy and U. S. Marines Corps as a ground attack, carrier capable aircraft. The first A-4 aircrafts was introduced into service in 1956 and was produced to 1979, variants going to the late 1980s. The aircraft was extensively used in the Vietnam War in close air support missions. By the late 1980s, the A-4 was deployed in a adversary training role. The U. S. Navy retired A-4s in 1998. The aircraft in the photograph-No. 159789- is painted in adversary camouflage paint pattern.
