The caboose was built in 1949 for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad- The Nickel Plate Road. On the Nickel Plate the caboose was number 732. The car became Norfolk & Western No. 557732 when N&W took over the Nickel Plate. In 1996, I photographed the caboose that was painted blue and had the marking of Norfolk & Western and was in Nelsonville.
