Both locomotives were built in 2001. In 2013, the locomotives pulling the Station to Station train were in St. Paul . The Station to Station train, sponsored, in part, by the Levi Company, was a "train-as-public art program." The purpose was to travel across the country stopping to perform. Entertainment was provided by artists including musicians and filmmakers who volunteered their time and performed without pay. Proceeds from the performances will support the arts.
