Vintage Buses
Parked outside the tramshed at Beamish Museum is this beautiful pair of restored buses of the past.
On the left is a 1947 Bristol L5G/ECW B35R of Durham District Services.The bus, registered HHN 202, was new to United Automobile Services in 1947 as fleet number BLO202. It was allocated to subsidiary company Bell's Services of Westerhope until it retuned to the United fleet as BG216 in 1951. It was re-bodied in 1957 and two years later was transferred to United subsidiary Durham District Services as DB216. The bus was sold for preservation in 1968.
On the right is ex-Sunderland Corporation No.13. The bus, built in 1947 and registered GR 9007, is a Crossley DD42/3 with chassis, body and engine all built by Crossley.
The vehicles were at Beamish for their 16/17 July 2022 bus event.
