Sixties over the Kinnickinnic
On a crisp spring morning, UP 1024 and a fellow GP60 roll Proviso-bound tonnage east on the Milwaukee Sub at 16th Street in Milwaukee. They are crossing the Kinnickinnic River- here more of a stream- on a bridge that proves this line was built with much grander expectations, having room for a quadruple main. In the distance is the Maynard Steel Casting complex, unfortunately no longer rail-served.
