IT Viaduct
Along the Mississippi River waterfront just south of the McKinley Bridge, the Illinois Terminal built a viaduct to cross over TRRA, CB&Q and Frisco trackage, on its approach to the street running and subway that led to its St Louis terminal. Heavy steel interurban cars, center-entrance suburban cars, and later, PCCs and IT's ill-fated streamliners all used this bridge. In more recent times, the trackage was used by Railroad Switching Services of Missouri to serve the St Louis Post Dispatch newspaper, which was (and is) located above the old IT terminal downtown. This ended in 2005, and the viaduct and street running trackage have been silent since. The section of viaduct just to the north, leading to the McKinley Bridge, has been converted into a pedestrian/bicycle pathway.
