Take the A Train
...and LT did to some extent, adopting the seat layout of the "A" prototype train of three ordered in 1984 to determine the design of new trains for the Central Line. One of two trains built by Metro Cammel (the third was built by BREL) it is seen on test at South Ealing in1987 during a heavy downpour. Whilst no features of the BREL prototype were included in the 1992 Central trains, BREL won the contract to build them. Waterproof they weren't as I discovered when travelling in one at West Ruislip in similar conditions.
