The Lookout...

EXPLORE: August 28, 2013

This youngster was probably the designated lookout for this den of Red Foxes which had setup housekeeping near the Union Pacific Railroad main line close to Bushnell, Nebraska. When a train would roar by, they would quickly disappear. I visited this area several times and on one of the trips managed to spot four of the pups out playing.

Red foxes live around the world in many diverse habitats including forests, grasslands, mountains, and deserts. They also adapt well to human environments such as farms, suburban areas, and even large communities. The red fox's resourcefulness has earned it a legendary reputation for intelligence and cunning.
