FRESNO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BUS 62

This is one of the ten busses Fresno Unified School District bought in 1985. They were nicknamed "The Roadrangers" since they were all 10 speeds and easily referred to. As told by one driver, "Crown was six months late in delivering these busses so they threw in the Air-ride seats at no extra cost". When the assigned bus drivers went to Crown to pick these busses up, they drove them back over the Grapevine during a snowstorm. One thing pictured here that Crown used from 1947-1991 when they closed was this die-cast aluminum gas pedal. The same went for the clutch pedal (not pictured), the drivers overhead mirror, and the front & rear bumpers. Another facinating thing is the wood grain dash that Crown used from 1978-1986.
