Cabo Carvoeiro lighthouse
Cabo Carvoeiro lies at the westernmost point of the Peniche peninsula, next to the Atlantic ocean, in the Penichemunicipality, Oeste Subregion. It faces the Berlengas archipelago, integrated in a natural terrestrial and maritime reserve.
The 25 m high Cabo Carvoeiro lighthouse was erected at that place, because of the numerous Shipwreck occurring there. In the neighboring Gruta da Furninha, prehistoric remains of human occupation were found.
