It was pouring rain, so went to this hairdresser near my hotel in the old part of Lisbon, the Alfama
Alfama (Portuguese pronunciation: [aɫˈfɐmɐ]) is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tejo river. Its name comes from theArabic Al-hamma, meaning hot fountains or baths( Alfama could be also driven from the Arabic word Alfamm meaning the mouth in Arabic and it's sometimes pronounced as alfama / alfamo/ alfamm / alfami or as just famm depending on the location of the word in a sentence) It includes the freguesias (parishes) of São Miguel, Santo Estêvão, São Vicente de Fora and part of two streets of Freguesia da Sé: Rua do Barão and Rua São João da Praça. It contains many important historical attractions, with many Fado bars and restaurants.
