Scottish Widows Fund and Life Assurance Society head office, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh, by Basil Spence, Glover & Ferguson (1972) on the site of the publisher Nelson’s old printing works close to Holyrood Park. Landscape consultant Sylvia Crowe. Officially opened in 1976 and won a RIBA award in 1977.

The school building to the right in this shot is Preston Street Primary School (1897) by JA Carfrae and R Wilson for Edinburgh School Board.
In 2020 parent company Lloyds Banking Group reassigned 2,200 employees from these offices to other locations in Edinburgh with unused space.

In May 2022 Schroders Capital Real Estate announced they hope to open up the site to allow the development of a new, high quality residential quarter as well as offering a renovated 21st century 'green' office complex. Corran Properties stated the building's footprint would be reduced. Morgan Architects is developing a vision and proposing solutions to bring the building up to 21st century standards.
