Blackness Castle

Castle against the backdrop of the Firth of Forth crossings: the nineteenth-century rail bridge, the suspension road bridge (1964); the Queensferry Crossing (under construction - to open 2017).

15th-century castle, garrison fortress and state prison. Now a visitor attraction.

Blackness was used as a location in the following: Elsinore Castle in Franco Zeffirelli's Hamlet (1990); Fromt de Boeuf in BBC TV's Ivanhoe (1997); Macbeth (1997); Doomsday (2008); Outlander (2014).
