'Harvey' by Edwin Russell

Originally located at the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service Protein Fractionation Centre, Liberton, Edinburgh, which opened in 1974, and where this image was taken.

Now relocated to new premises at Heriot Watt University's science park [heriot-watt-researchpark.co.uk/?page_id=48].

 

Edwin Russell (1939-2013) won the Gold Medal while a student at the Royal Academy. He married fellow sculptor Lorne McKean and they worked in a studio together in Surrey. Public works include the Suffragette Memorial in London and he created works for both St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. He is also known for designing a number of sundials.
