Traditional Skills 11-16-11
The third Traditional Skills Workshop of the semester was held in the Excellence in Leadership Center of the Lower Hobson Union on Wednesday, Nov. 16. This workshop dealt with home processing of locally harvested deer. Sponsored by the Sustainability Office, Traditional Skills Workshops started as a student idea to promote sustainability education at BSU. Why not learn from those in the community that live it? There is, on average, one workshop per month that focuses on a skill to increase self-sufficiency. Previous workshops have dealt with canning and preserving vegetables, knitting, drumming, bee-keeping, mushroom hunting, carding and spinning yarn, bread-making, using natural dyes, and planning gardens.
