France is the biggest traveler I know, and I have seen much of the world through her eyes, right here on Flickr. This photograph of someplace in Italy took my breath away with its beauty, the wonderful point of view, the richness of color, the feeling that terrifying drop off gives me, and the lovely little village and distant forest. Incredibly beautiful!
Mary Radike Smith says:
Arpi is a fantastic Black and White... Shadows and Shapes... and wonderful puddle photographer. Sometimes she works in color, too, and this is one of them. I love this unusual viewing place, with the near-silhouettes, and the wonderful light on the railings, and the beautiful feeling of peace and wonder.
Mary Radike Smith says:
Max is an amazing photographer... from England. He seems to specialize in animals, but sometimes I think he specializes in light. I found this photo to be breathtakingly beautiful, with the rays of light and the shadows on the ground revealing the details of the meadow. The stag in the clearing seems like icing on the cake, the rest of the image is so gorgeous!

Artangler has been in this gallery several times already. This photo, with the amazing winter light shining on the snow and fence and hillside, as see through the blue winter shadows of the forest, took my breath away. I love that aqua color in the distance too. This image is simply glorious!
Mary Radike Smith says:
This photographer, ~frangipani~, is an old friend, who is such a very fine photographer... so talented, and such a traveler! This gorgeous scene on the seashore illustrates her talent admirably. I gasped with wonder when I saw this image, and I hope it gives everyone the same pleasure.

Alison gets to open this gallery. This photo is stunningly beautiful, to me. The light... wow... on the mounds of mossy forest floor in the foreground, all tangled up in the misty air of the distance... shining on the leaves of a bush or making the purplish glow I see.
Alison is a consistently good photographer, who loves dragonflies and damselflies, and gets to travel, so she sees things like this perfectly magical forest. SO beautifully photographed.

Artangler has been a contact of mine almost from my beginning on Flickr. He is from northern Scotland and when he goes out a roving for photos I know I am going to love what I see.
This particular one is part of a short series of these cliffs. covered in summer green and flowers, with a bit of fence, a gull, a bird floating in the mist... it just catches in my throat and makes me have to take a deep breath. How completely beautiful this is.
It is beautiful in the size shown, but seen full screen it should take your breath away, too.

Aaron has been a valued contact of mine for quite a while. I know no better photographer of wildlife. He so often manages to get something special into his photos.... in this case, the amazing autumn colors behind the brightness and sharpness of the Bluebird, and the feeling the title gives, work together to make a bit of beauty that touches my heart.
Not to mention that I haven't actually seen a bluebird in years. Such a perfect photo.
Mary Radike Smith says:
The perfection of this beautiful beautiful photograph just amazes me. Birgitta is from Sweden, and this wonderful scene of snow, ice, and the fiery light of the sun is from this winter (2015). The funny thing about this photo is that most often Birgitta creates a work of art with a super-talented use of textures and other processing. But this time she must have looked at her image and realized there was nothing better than the way it is now! The way the light hits each of those tree trunks and the snow on the ground... AND the ice on the lake... is... as I said in the beginning... perfection!

How strange to have three winter photos in a row in my gallery! I usually try to mix things up better, but these photos came to my attention in this order!
John is a Chicago photographer, an intrepid individual who braves all weather conditions on his bike, with his camera at hand. On this day he came out into the snowed-in city to see what the storm had wrought (he came out in the middle of the storm too, on his bike!) and this is the scene he showed us. Incredible, isn't it! I have never seen ice like this. But with Lake Michigan right there, this is what happened to the trees, in the furious wind and blowing lake water. Wonderful capture, beautifully photographed. Takes my breath away!

This is my dear friend in the UK, Jon, again. He has photos in other galleries of mine. This photo really hit my "happy button". (And since it was actually taken in February, I loved the contrast between his weather and our weather.... which is more like the three photos above!)
I love misty light. I love fence shots. I love silhouettes. And I love how he caught that light on the ground behind the curving fence, making the fence (perfectly focused) stand out beautifully. I love the bits of red in the leaves. I love the domed bit of elegant building showing. I love the bench with the seat shining. Very beautiful, perfectly photographed, perfectly composed happy photo.

Wes from Chicago, a friend for several years now, has appeared in some other of my galleries. His unbounded talent for composition and processing constantly amazes me. This photo, especially seen full screen, is so rich with details of the forest floor and the tree trunks that it is like a photo of a little world. The lovely bench and spring-green view are beautiful also, but I admit, I think of the bench and view as the background for the true photo, which for me anyway, is the foreground. Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.

Jim has been a contact of mine for some time, but he recently re-appeared on Flickr after a long absence. Then, he totally overwhelmed me with this gorgeous, perfect photo. How beautiful can you get!? The wonderful hazy light in the background, the jewel tones in midground, and the splendid seclusion of the little cabin tucked away in the trees, the mist on the water, the perfect placement of the boat which recalls lazy summer days... utterly amazing photography. I also love the "old master painting" tones in the dark trees and water. Wow. That's the way to do it! Oh, and very talented work done to clone out an annoying bit... you certainly can't tell, can you? Wow.
Mary Radike Smith says:
Mark is a superior, extraordinary, wonderful photographer. I have featured him in galleries before, because he often makes my jaw drop with the quality and beauty and perfection of his images. Although he often takes posed and costumed portraits against incredible backgrounds, he also ventures into nature photography sometimes. And, when he does... the beauty and wonder of his perfect shots leave me breathless. Like this one. I can't imagine how it could be more perfect.

Laura is a photographer who lives in Florida USA. She often shows me wildlife and plant-life I have never seen before, with beautiful light and compositions. In this photo she had traveled a few hundred miles north to the Appalachian Mountains. I love the simplicity of the perfectly composed view in this amazing sunset shot, the two layers of foreground, and the incredible colors in the sky. SO well photographed!
Mary Radike Smith says:
The beauty in this photo is more subtle, than, say, a sunset or flowers, but this shot took my breath away. I love this peaceful, quiet looking misty waterland, with all the gold, and the duck doing its morning grooming. This is from my friend Art in Scotland. (You can trace the seasons in this gallery... you can tell we have moved from summer to autumn, now!)

I have been Heidi's contact for a while, but I don't know her really well. I know she comes from an extraordinarily beautiful family, and that she takes very fine photos, with excellent light and compositions. This one, an autumn scene in Norway during an early morning walk, really caught at me. Something about the light in the autumn leaves, the blue of the rocks and lichens, and the unexpected quality of the sheep, who look a bit startled, is magnificent. I love that line of light on the grass just in front of the sheep. It is one of those wonderful details that can launch an already beautiful photo up to another level of beauty. So excellent.

My contact Mary lives just north of one of the Great Lakes in North America... in Canada. Mary takes wonderful photos, partly because she gets out and about in the coldest of weather, and consequently sees things the rest of us never do, and partly because she has the heart of an artist. Here is a "simple" photograph of water freezing while a snowfall is just beginning, and it is magnificent!
Mary Radike Smith says:
I was caught up by the perfection of this photo...another one from my friend Art in Scotland. I love the fine focus and the fine details in this beautiful image, the perfect silhouettes in the perfect composition. The dramatic golden tones and the distant golden hills... and the bright glow in the sky and the reflected light in the lake. It is magnificent.
Mary Radike Smith says:
Nils is a new contact of mine (as of 2016) who takes many wonderful photos, many amazing images of birds, especially. He lives in Norway, and he must be out every day with his camera, because he has so many beauties in his photostream. This one, of November snow mist and the sun through a tree, I found to be so beautiful... it is spectacular. I love the soft grass under the tree, the soft orange in the sky and air, and the purple shadows in the snow. SO beautiful!
Mary Radike Smith says:
Wes's photos are featured in some of my other galleries, but this is his first one in this gallery. Wes is from Michigan, USA, and is very talented with his camera. Here is a beautiful sunset scene, with every element of the shot a piece of perfection... the curve of the tree, the fine focus on the tiny branches, the texture and shape of the rounded hump of grass, the intricacy of the fallen autumn leaves, the way the distant trees look in the twilight, the purple at the top of the sky, and the (oak) in the top corner to balance the rest.... so beautiful. Such expertise! And expertise in processing, too, to get this wonderful painted look.
Mary Radike Smith says:
Jeff has been my contact for a good number of years. He lives in England... Derbyshire I believe, lol. He takes many excellent photos of the birds in his area. Here he gives us a wonderful misty look at his part of the world. I love the green mossy wall, the wonderful composition with the reflection and the hiker in the gap. I love the rich colors and the cool feeling the image gives me. So beautiful! And so beautifully photographed!

This fine photographer, and adventurer, comes from northern New York State. Every year she and her family go to the lakes of New York state with their kayaks. This image, with its subtle colors, really grabbed at my heart. The soft gleam of the water, the low lying clouds, the contrast between the dark and light, and the wonderful silvery tones are so beautiful. The calmness and peacefulness one experiences when gazing at this photograph are achieved by the soft light, the soft shapes, the soft clouds, and the soft gleaming surface of the water. I love the silvery line on the water horizon against the darker hills. And I love that one floating cloud hovering silently over the blue distance. A really beautiful masterpiece of a shot!
