The Face of the Jumping Spider 2 IMG_1570
And there, sunning herself in one of my gladiola, was this lovely jumping spider.
The nice thing about jumping spiders is that their eyes are fixed, like ours, on the front of their heads, to give them excellent binocular vision. (Possibly those other things are eyes too, which would make it, um, quadocular vision!).
Anyway, since they can see so well, this one was quite able to see me approaching with my camera. And so, as any good jumping spider knows to do, it faces the threat.
That is why you can always take a photo of a jumping spider's face!
