IMG_5125 Question Mark
It is very unusual that on the 6th of April I would identify two butterflies, which, although not rare, I had never identified before. Neither butterfly is supposed to be here until May.
This one is the Question Mark. Very exciting for me to see.
It is named after the white question mark on the underside of its wing... you can see part of the mark in the image.
The larvae feed on Hop, Elm, and Nettles. I have plenty of all these things around here, but still, I have never seen one of these before!
It was sunning on the bark of an old maple at the top of the hill.
