Lesser Redpoll

Started today's morning walk with my latest ever Lesser Redpolls for Milton Keynes, with some superb views of them feeding on aspen catkins in the same area as my first ever Mealy Redpoll on Thursday.

There were at least 11 today (30 yesterday), this being one of two that had silver rings, though the other had its ring on the left leg instead meaning it will have come from a different bird ringing project. As overwintering visitors, they're usually gone from my patch until the autumn long before the end of April.
