First Light on the Kansas Capitol...
It's just after 5:30AM and another day's work has resumed on the massive restoration of the Kansas Capitol. The east wing, which stands in shadow, is basically completed. Scaffolding still remains on the north and south wings, but should be coming down in the near future. The most visible and striking change that we all recognize is the replacement of the original copper done, which had oxidized to the familiar green color over the years.
This extensive...and expensive (!) project has taken 12 years and has cost somewhere north of 300 million dollars to complete. As anyone who has done restoration knows, there were many $urpri$e$ along the way...!
