Rocky Mount N.P., Sunrise 8-30-12
(1 in a multiple picture set)
The sage brush on Harbison Meadows is glowing in the early morning light. To the south are the peaks of the Arapaho National Forest. In 1895, sisters Annie and Kitty Harbison homesteaded this ground and for many years ran a dairy herd on it, supplying milk to the town of Grand Lake. Likely, they saw Native Americans at times. It must have been hard work, but they prospered for thirty years. And this was long before the age of Women's Liberation.
