Early Autumn on Lake Sabrina, Sierra Nevada, CA 2017

(1 in a multiple picture album)

Bishop Creek Road, which takes one on a beautiful drive up into the Sierra Nevada, ends here at Lake Sabrina. If you ask for directions, know that local residents pronounce the lake 'Sah-bry-nuh'" even though the lake was named after Mrs. Sabrina (pronounced: suh-BREE-nuh) Hobbs.

However you pronounce it, at 9,124 feet, the air is clean and the view of the peaks is worth the drive. There is a parking lot there and a cafe which is open before the snow closes the road.

There are several trails leading part-way around the water.
