Crazy Buffet San Jose CA
At 780 S. Winchester Blvd.
This was built in 1983 for Marie Callender's Restaurant and it operated as such until about 2004. This location was a franchise and the owner was not maintaining it properly. The owner stopped paying the food distributor and would go to the grocery store to buy food to cook (makes no sense at all.....) This was told to me by the manager of the corporate owned Marie Callenders that stood at 2825 Meridian Ave. in Hacienda Gardens (now a bunch of townhomes and condos)
This one above was also apparently infested with mice during it's operation as a Marie Callender's and the mice are likely back now that the Crazy Buffet is closed.
When Crazy Buffet took over, they removed the pie counter, the eat at counter, the bar (being a franchise- the owner had a full bar) the salad bar and part of the kitchen to install buffet counters. Other than that, it still looked like a Marie Callender's inside. Recently, there has been some activity in the restaurant.
From what I was told today from the guy guarding the property, there is a feud occuring between the property owner of the retail center next door- that owner wants to use the empty MC parking lot for overflow from the Honeybaked Ham Store customers, but the MC property owner doesn't want it. The guy guarding was told that no one could park in the MC lot, not even me to take photos, but the guy had no problem with me taking pics, so I parked next door by the Pizza Hut takeout.
