This is Alice. Alice is one of the youth group leaders at our church. She and her husband Chuck started the youth group 30-something years ago. Every year they run a composting fund raiser to make money for the mission trip they take the kids on in the summer. The mission is a habitat for humanity kind of effort - they take 20 or so kids and a handful of adults, a trailer of power tools, and head off to some community down at the Texas-Mexico border and do major renovations on some poor family's house.
They are amazing people and love the kids so much. Chuck was just diagnosed with cancer, so he may not be able to make the mission trip this year, but he was out spreading mulch with Alice and the kids yesterday, just like routine.
