Touching down on runway 9R at MIA in December, 1980, this early 747 was delivered to Continental Air Lines as N26862 in July, 1970 and was retired after less than 4 years in service. Boeing purchased it in 1975 and it was intended to go to the Imperial Iranian Air Force as 5-290, but this was cancelled. Later regns include N747AV, N747BA and N602FF. Before being retired for good in 2000 it flew for many other operators including. Scandinavian, Air Algerie, Tower Air, Air Jamaica, Air Europe, Saudi Arabian and Garuda Indonesian.
