The Beauty of Maligne Lake...

It's amazing how things change here, from one day to the next. On top of my photo list, was getting a winter image of Maligne Lake, Jasper...surrounded by snow, with reflections, before the lake froze. This is the image that we see here. My timing couldn't have been more perfect. Of course I came back early the following morning, in hope of getting a beautiful sunrise. It didn't happen, because the lake was already frozen and the morning was colorless. Still, I came back that same day in the afternoon and found a thin sheet of ice covering the entire lake. Even though the water level was low by the edge of the lake, I couldn't resist a walk on the wild side. I will never forget this excitement. I felt like a kid, doing something fun and dangerous. It was thrilling to slide, play and sit on this ice. After the images you see in the comments below, the ice started to make crackling and popping sounds. I was very happy to come off the ice, having enjoy the while I was on it.

This is a two 35mm image panorama, merged in PS.
