door button
I fabricated a through door button with a couple small blocks of mahogany and some brass. I embedded brass plates on the doors at a slight bevel. Then I drilled through the plates and the blocks for a section of brass tube. I filled the tube with a tight fit dowel. Then I drilled and drove a brass screw through the tube/dowel and assembled all with epoxy glue. As you turn the button, tension is increased by the uphill bevel of the plates, and the doors pull tight.
