Here lived Willy Lessing, born 1881, victim of the pogrom, defamed / abused, dead 17 January 1939.
Willy Lessing served in WWI and was a successful businessman who contributed much to the Bamberg community. On Kristallnacht / Reichspogromnacht in November 1938, he rushed to the burning synagogue and there was verbally and physically abused. The beating was so bad that he died in hospital in January 1939.
